Hi Xoom Man,
Is there a way to start a document on my office PC, finishing it (offline) on the bus on my (soon to be purchased) wifi-only Xoom, and have it sync with my PC when I get home???
From my reading, neither Google Docs, Quick Office, DocsToGo, or Dropbox let you access and edit a document/folder on a droid offline, and then have it sync with another PC when you go online again.
I’ve been searching for an answer for ages and can’t see an answer and this will really influence my (and I’m sure others) decision to buy the Xoom.
Many Thanks
Paul,
Sounds like you have done quite a bit of research on this topic as you have listed the products most people would try to accomplish this with.
I think an important thing is to be patient with Google right now. They have released a new version of gDocs and hopefully it is just months before they return offline functionality to this new version of Google Docs.
The below link is a great place to start in regards to learning about Google restoring offline functionality. You can also do this the hard-way with DropBox by “forcing” a “sync” before you leave the office and then again once you have returned home. If you would like I can demonstrate this in a YouTube video. I think this is one of the many important things a Tablet should be able to accomplish and hopefully the software engineers can ramp up on this feature quickly!

Thanks. Yeah, it’s pretty much a deal breaker for me. I use Dropbox between work and home PCs which is great, but would like to be able to have all my files on my Xoom to edit as I need and then sync across my laptop and PCs.
Google Docs isn’t really handy – seems to be more for individual documents, whereas I want to stick my work folder on it and access it on the go. And there seem to be some compatibility issues with Word…
I notice that DocumentsToGo on my wife’s iPad allows her to edit cloud documents, but the android version doesn’t. Which kinda sucks!
If you guys hear of any developments it would be great if you could share them
Thanks
Paul
and my problem is solved!

I need to snag that update myself! Thanks for sharing the update on Quick Office and offline documents!
