Motorola Xoom now available without data plan

Motorola Xoom Google Talk

As promised, Xoom Accessories is bringing you the latest news on the Motorola Xoom launch day!

Verizon has decided to make a Motorola Xoom purchase even sweeter by removing the data plan sign up requirement for buying the tablet off-contract. Originally customers had to pay the $35 data plan activation fee plus $20 for a month of data. This $55 saving could go to your first Xoom accessory!

If you bought the Xoom before the policy changed and had to pay for the data plan, you can call Verizon to have the contract canceled, and the cost will be reimbursed to you.

As far as data plans go, Verizon offers several options; as you can see in the picture below. Regardless of which data plan you choose, you’ll have to pay a $35 activation fee.

Verizon made the right moved by removing the data requirement from the Xoom. We’re sure the unsubsidized option will atract more customers who want a taste of Honeycomb without being tied to a contract.
