Verizon updated its main page today with the sales information for the Motorola Xoom. They confirmed what we expected, with Feburary 24th as the product availability date with the prices that we discussed in an earlier post. What we didn’t expect from our hopeful iPad contender was the handicap of missing Flash support.
While the Motorola Xoom is still a fantastic tablet that blows all other available tablets on the market out of the water, the lack of Flash leaves some sinking expectations. This has not been officially confirmed from the Motorola Xoom team, but Verizon seems to have the most recent product updates at this point and there is really no reason to believe they would put that disclaimer on their site if they didn’t absolutely have to do so.
The ball seems to be thrown in Adobe’s court since it is believed that the Motorola Xoom is waiting for the newest unreleased version of Flash 10.2 to get deployed. This version of Flash is tailored for tablet style devices and should boast some great improvements over what is currently available.
While it is a bummer, The Motorola Xoom still rocks right out of the box and on the 24th we’ll be unwrapping this tablet treat and getting an in-depth review of what we find. We will also be posting reviews of all of the Motorola Xoom Accessories that are available at launch. Stay tuned for any new updates!
